Nikki presented a lightning talk at the 2010 Design Research Conference - speaking about how behavioral economics applies to design, and introducing the Brains, Behavior & Design toolkit as a new lens for problem-solving.

The team guest-lectured in Jeremy Alexis' Economics and Design class, part of the Masters of Design program at the IIT Institute of Design. We kicked off the class with an introduction to behavioral economics concepts, and then facilitated a discussion on the implications of behavioral economics findings to the design practice. |

We hosted a workshop for friends and alums of the IIT Institute of Design, as part of an evening of learning and networking at the Monitor Group office in New York. During the hour-long workshop, we explored high-level concepts in behavioral economics and introduced the five tools we developed to help designers apply these findings to their practice. Participants worked in small groups to brainstorm new product concepts using these tools. |

Brains, Behavior & Design was invited to host two discussion tables at the Fall 2009 Design Research Conference on the topic "Irrationality and Design: Influencing the decisions that real people make." We had an international group of participants including professionals and students from multiple disciplines. The discussion was focused on 10 behavioral tendencies particularly relevant to design, and participants shared stories and insights about these tendencies from their own work. |
